Layout of Home
Durham House was originally a privately owned house built in 1904, which was converted in 1988 and then further in 2000, into a luxurious two-storey residential care home for the elderly. This principle, along with careful thought and design, has allowed the home to retain many of the original features of the home, such as beautiful external original brick, balustrades and stonework, and an impressive internal staircase and moulded ceiling which give the central hallway of the home a warm and homely look and feel, and by their presence, features not seen in the more purpose built homes of today.
Durham House is able to offer exceptional standards of care to all residents without the feeling of being in an institution.
